Protect Yourself and the EnvironmentWe all know recycling computers is critical to protecting the environment, and keeping tons of waste and toxic chemicals out of our landfills. The province of BC is so concerned about this threat that is has created an Electronic Stewardship Association, a free recycling program and has even implemented new laws that make it illegal to dispose of computer equipment in the garbage. This program is a huge step forward in protecting our environment, but it fails to reuse older equipment, and protect the organizations who send their equipment for recycling. We have put together a program specifically for businesses and not-for-profits that: - Enables you to safely dispose of your equipment
- Protects your organization from having data stolen from disposed hard drives
- Reduces waste by helping donate useful computers to people in need
- Ensures that unusable equipment is disposed of safely through the governments program, in compliance with the Electronic Stewardship Association
How it worksOnce your computer equipment arrives at NewGen it is stripped of all media which may contain data including hard drives, disks, and even printer components. This media is then placed into securely locked bins which are sent out for secure shredding and incineration. Your data is protected during transfer in the secure bins. The bulk of the equipment we receive is then sorted by one of a couple of local not-for-profit organizations, such as the Electronics Recycling Association, who then refurbish the equipment, and donate it to schools, charities and people in need. All remaining equipment is disposed using environmentally friendly processes overseen by the Electronic Stewardship Association of British Columbia through BC's Return-it Electronics Recycling program.
