Lowest Total Cost of OwnershipThese systems provide the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over the lifespan of the system through reduced power consumption and heat generation.
Lowest TCO mean is better for the environment. Choosing a low TCO solution can cut up to 8 metric tons carbon emissions per desktop. | Lowest capital investmentThese systems provide the lowest upfront capital investment, while satisfying reliability and security needs. While they do have a lower capital costs, there is a trade-off for higher ongoing indirect costs.
Lower capital investment solutions are ideal for organizations who have difficulty sourcing capital for investments, and have an easier time with operating costs.
| Most powerfulThese systems are based on the latest performance enhancing technologies including fast processors, loads of RAM, SAS and Solid State hard drives.
These powerful, cutting edge systems are designed for organizations with high-performance requirements where computer performance directly relates to profitability (eg. CAD/Engineering). |
At NewGen we replace hundreds of old computers each year with new ones, and service all of these systems. By using our standard systems we eliminate the time each of our clients spend researching and testing products. By us centrally researching and testing, we are able to eliminate wasted time and blind purchasing for our clients. This ensures our clients get the maximum value out of their purchase. Standardization also leads to increased uptime due to faster support. Because we manage so many of the same systems our support staff becomes highly experienced with our standard models which leads to faster issue resolution time.
There is a lot that goes into selecting standards. We look at serviceability (how easily parts are changed, and serviced), infant mortality rate (% of systems DOA), compatibility and interchangeability (with current and past models), manufacturer production cycle, consistency in product line (that manufacturer will not change components in that product during the production cycle), engineering and stress testing, application compatibility testing, power consumption, heat production, airflow requirements, physical size, manufacturers support reputation, spare part availability, and lastly price/performance.
We choose hardware configuration based on preset price points that we retain on an ongoing basis to assist with budgeting.
We redo our standards every 12-18 months. We do make slight changes to the hardware configuration throughout the term as prices change, so we can provide the best value possible while maintaining the preset price point.
