  • Easy to buy - NewGen does all research and testing in advance which means, there is no research or testing required on your part
  • Faster Issue Resolution - NewGen's technical staff have a great deal more experience in working on our standard computers because we deploy and mange so many of the same model

Why does NewGen have standards?

At NewGen we replace hundreds of old computers each year with new ones, and service all of these systems. By using our standard systems we eliminate the time each of our clients spend researching and testing products. By us centrally researching and testing, we are able to eliminate wasted time and blind purchasing for our clients. This ensures our clients get the maximum value out of their purchase. Standardization also leads to increased uptime due to faster support. Because we manage so many of the same systems our support staff becomes highly experienced with our standard models which leads to faster issue resolution time.

How does NewGen pick standards?

There is a lot that goes into selecting standards. We look at serviceability (how easily parts are changed, and serviced), infant mortality rate (% of systems DOA), compatibility and interchangeability (with current and past models), manufacturer production cycle, consistency in product line (that manufacturer will not change components in that product during the production cycle), engineering and stress testing, application compatibility testing, power consumption, heat production, airflow requirements, physical size, manufacturers support reputation, spare part availability, and lastly price/performance.

We choose hardware configuration based on preset price points that we retain on an ongoing basis to assist with budgeting.

How often does NewGen redo its standards?

We redo our standards every 12-18 months. We do make slight changes to the hardware configuration throughout the term as prices change, so we can provide the best value possible while maintaining the preset price point.
