The New Ipad 3 - Biggest Features for Construction

The biggest features the iPad 3 has over previous versions are the new Retina screen, the integrated 5 megapixel camera (capable of still photo and recording 1080p video) and the optional integrated 4G LTE wireless internet module.

Retina Display

The new iPad 3’s Retina display is an incredibly high-resolution screen that enables you to see the most minute details. This allows for easier viewing of plans and manuals in the field, by enabling field staff to see fine detail without having to zoom in.

Integrated 5 Mega-pixel Camera

The new iPad 3 includes an integrated 5 megapixel camera which is ideal for taking photos at job sites and attaching to emails or your field service applications. The new camera can also take full HD 1080p video, and can read virtually any type of barcode with the addition of a free barcode app.

4G LTE

The optional integrated 4G LTE wireless internet module allows the iPad to connect to the new faster 4G LTE networks at up to 42Mbps (speed varies by carrier, 42Mbps is the fastest today). This allows mobile workers to download large files such as plans and spreadsheets faster. And always on 4G internet means your tablets will work at sites with no Wi Fi service.

The iPad is Still the Best Tablet

No one can seem to keep up with the iPad. The new iPad 3 introduces new features such as the Retina display which are technological advances, while still being able to keep the price lower than comparable tablets. Leaving vendors like Samsung to scramble to try to keep up.

The new iPad 3 remains the easiest tablet to use and includes several new usability improvements. It also continues to have the smoothest interface, and most responsive touchscreen on the market. And most importantly because iPads are the predominant tablet, they have the most accessories available. There is a plethora of cases and skins available to protect these new iPads from dirt, drops and other damage.

How your peers are using the New iPad 3…

Constructtech magazine sat down with Dan Bayer from Miron Construction, of Neenah, Wis. Bayer says Miron approaches the use of the iPad strategically and from a number of different avenues—project management, field management, and business development and marketing.
