Founded in 1996 by founders Lee Van Iderstine and Robin Hiet-Block, the company originally focused on building custom computers for the home / home office market. The companies mission from day 1 was to provide high-quality, reliable computers and service. As NewGen's computers, with a reputation for quality, gained popularity amongst small business owners, and networking became more prevalent in Small Business, NewGen began to offer network installation and support to these businesses.
In 2000 NewGen made a major leap and began offering web-site design and development service to their small business clients who wanted to start out on the web. The service was immediately popular and soon these clients were demanding advanced functionality and programming. NewGen began working on larger projects ranging from e-commerce stores to information management systems for the provincial government.
In 2003 NewGen made their first move to a new, larger office. Around the same time NewGen, who was already an HP Business Partner for servers, made the hard decision to stop producing NewGen-brand computers.
In 2005 NewGen was forced to double their office space to keep up with demand. Pressure from client's caused NewGen to gamble on a new business model that was emerging in the US, managed services. This model was a hard sell initially because it requires a shift in mindset, but the customers who signed up were ecstatic with the service. This model is the foundation of NewGen's computer / network support services today.
In 2006/2007 NewGen experienced massive growth, outgrowing their offices and dramatically expanding their team. This growth enabled NewGen to move above their competition by gaining new efficiencies of scale. For the past 5 years in a row Business in Vancouver ranked NewGen as one of the fastest growing companies in BC, and for fiscal 2011, Profit Magazine, a national business magazine ranked NewGen one of the top 200 fastest growing companies in the country.
In November of 2011, NewGen completed the purchase of a new building, and after 11 months, finally completed renovations and moved into the new facility. The new facility, double the size of the last location includes a full datacenter and numerous staff amenities.
We're accomplishing this growth by focusing our efforts on two highly underserved industries, Construction and Not-for-Profit organizations. Our focus gives us in-depth knowledge of the goals, challenges, and requirements of these industries, enabling us to provide faster service, shared infrastructure, innovative technology, and share lessons learned.
